The Scottish Feminist Network comprises of regional women’s groups throughout Scotland, promoting and supporting women’s rights in life and in law.
Prior to the creation of SFN, many of us were involved in private feminist groups on Twitter, in other feminist organisations and supported action taken by For Women Scotland but the women involved were often based far from each other and this made it difficult to target local action.
The creation of the network, which currently has approaching 1000 members across Scotland, has allowed us to target action in local areas, meet regularly in real life and share information widely. The SFN also works closely with other feminist organisations sharing information and supporting a wide range of activism to promote and protect women’s rights.
There was a recognition, however, that connections were largely based on a Twitter or Discord presence and that this may exclude women who were not comfortable using those forums or wanted to protect their anonymity. With the creation of this website we hope to be able to reach out to those who may not feel able to join our Twitter groups, provide a way to connect with other women in real life and share information more widely than is currently possible.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and we hope that you will find this website useful. You can contact us via the Contact Us page.
